We're Home!

Dani and I got in last night about 5:00 and it was great to be back up here. As much as I miss my family down south it is always nice to get back to my own house and back into my own routine. The wedding was nice and Dani had a great visit with grandma and grandpa W as well as with - as dani would put it - unti nenda! On Sunday I went and picked Dani up from Chris's mom and dad's and took her out to the lake to see my parents as well as Katie-Jo, Trevor, Bradley and uncle Jeff. Aunt Judy and Uncle Jake got there on Monday morning. We all went out in the boat Monday afternoon. Dad took me water skiing - every muscle, bone and joint in my body hurts! I managed to get a couple squishee runs in to 7/11. Dad - next time we will get a hot dog loaded with sauer krout - unfortunately I don't think my innards can take that at 8 in the morning! Dani has been picking up words and talking like crazy! She calls moms puppy abby and it is clear as a bell that she is calling her by her name! Her voice is so sweet sounding! Zach has been talking a lot more - lots of noise coming out of that boy now and not always from his butt! Zach has been scooting a lot more lately and is getting a lot faster at it! On the flight from Whitehorse to Vancouver Dani and I sat in the back of the plane but on the flight from Vancouver to Calgary we were bumped to first class - man I love to travel in style! Here are some pics from the trip home.

Turning into a Girl!

When Chris and I started going together I was pretty much a tomboy. I had short hair, short nails, and wore nothing but jeans, t-shirts and hoodies. The year that we got married I grew my hair to my shoulders, grew some finger nails but carried on with my job of being a hot shot delivery driver. A couple weeks ago I had my hair cut and permed and now tomorrow I am going to town to have my nails done. Six years ago I would have rolled my eyes and stuck my finger down my throat at the mere thought of "getting my nails done". Since we moved north I have become a little more feminine but am still not afraid to get to get into the jeans (the ones that fit anyway) and get right filthy! I am leaving Friday morning for Fernie with toddler in tow. I decided to bring Dani with me cause this will most likely be her last free flight anywhere (gotta milk it any way you can). Besides Chris and I think it will be good for her to have some time with both sets of her grandparents. I am really looking forward to our trip - she is a really good kid to travel with aside from the puking. I am just praying she doesn't barf on the plane - can you imagine if she did! Picture me all gussied up coming off the plane carrying a puke covered, ruffled hair, boogery nose toddler with a stinky diaper - NOT PRETTY!!! This week has completely flown by. I imagined it would just drag and that I would be able to get finished the huge list of things that I wanted to do before I go - well... I made the lasagne! The laundry has made it from washer to dryer to kitchen table. I wanted to be packed and ready to go tonight but we'll see. I'm sure it will be 3:15 on Friday morning and I will be sitting in front of the dryer anxiously waiting for it to finish so I could get the last pair of ginch to put in my suitcase. Did I mention I want to be leaving at 3:00! I am so thankful Dani likes to walk now cause there won't be any stroller for me to pack (just the leash). The less crap I have to pack the better. Anyway I have about 6 loads of laundry holding my table down and I suppose I should get it folded and put away before Dani gets up in the morning and decides I need a helping hand!

A week of single parenting!

Chris left on Sunday for Chilliwack where he is taking a course for work. So I am going on to day three of being the only parent in the house. I am having a good time with the kids but I am really looking forward to seeing Chris! Funny how the saying goes you never know how much you will miss something till it is gone. Well I will tell you honestly I miss him! Not just cause he is my husband but because I miss the helping hand around here! The little things like the laundry getting switched from the washer to the dryer or the dishwasher loading itself, the dog and the fish magically being fed! I definately have it better than a lot of women out there who's husbands don't do sweet dick all around the house or with the kids. If anybody were to come to the house they would know that Dani is missing her daddy. She is going from the front window to the side window to the front door and then to the back all the while saying "daddy, daddy, daddy" looking for her dad. Brings tears to my eyes! Oh so anyway the house is a lot quieter with no one to talk to unless the phone rings. Jackie is coming out on Thursday and I leave Friday morning to go home for Kristina's wedding. Chris will be home on Friday night and then I will be home on Tuesday afternoon. Well Zach-a-poo is finally back asleep so I am going to bed. Night All.

Mommies Day Out.

So last Thursday was my day. Chris watched both the kids and I went to town. I got my hair permed, I did the grocery shopping in record time, went for an uninterrupted lunch with a friend, more or less pissed the day away. That is the first time I have ever left both of the kids and had a day to myself - it was great! When I left the house with only car keys in hand I felt like I was missing a whole lot of stuff! On any other normal day I would have been missing a tonne of stuff - things like 1 wiggly toddler, 1 screaming infant, 1 overstuffed busting at the seams diaper bag, 1 overflowing toy tote, 1 box of childrens gravol, barf pail, jug of water, 2 different changes of clothes, a stroller built for two, a childrens leash, a front carrier and a big bottle of aspirin! That seems to be the usual load of crap every time we go into town! So like I said with just car keys in hand I felt like I had forgotten something! My perm looks fantastic. I leave next Friday for Kristina's wedding in Fernie. I'm looking forward to going home but... if I felt empty handed leaving for just one day I wonder how five days will be - guess we'll find out!

Canada Day Weekend and Some Other Stuff

I am truly amazed at what children will put into their little mouths. On Thursday Dani picked and ate boogers... from Zach's nose!!! I was grossed out but laughing so hard I just about pissed myself! I think I laughed harder at the sound of mmmmm after the nugget went down. We rented a movie seeing as we hadn't watched a movie together for as long as I can remember. The babes must have known that we intended to watch a movie cause they were absolutely impossible to get down that night. So by 11:30 we just decided to let them stay up with us and watch the movie together. Not even fifteen minutes into the show Dani (who was sitting on my lap) popped her bottle out of her mouth and barfed all over me. The first heave ended up on both of us and the second heave ended up all over the couch cushion, the coffee table and the floor. Chris went and borrowed the steam cleaner from Jan - thankfully they were still up! We did finish watching the movie - it was 3:30 by the time we went to bed!
Friday brought a parade - well more like a bunch of bikes with a block long traffic jam. Bigger turnout than last year though! Jan and I went and watched some of the stuff going on. Chris and I participated in the log sawing competition we came in second last! I went in the nail hammering competition and got disqualified for switching to my right hand - you think I would have learned after the last time I did it and was disqualified! I went in the pudding eating contest and wore most of it. Lastly I went in the egg throwing competition and lasted one throw - I was more concerned about the kid that landed his egg beside me - I didn't want to get egg guts all over my shoes! It started to rain so Jan and I left and went to pick up Chris and Garry to go watch the snowmobile races. We parked the car and watched a few people go and then went to the Totem Pole for ice cream. I know what your thinking - who in their right mind would ride a snowmobile in the middle of summer, well....you know. When your lacking in activities (sanity) anything goes! On Saturday Chris stayed with the kids and I went to play softball for a few hours - I am in some serious pain - I used muscles I didn't even know existed! Poor achy body! I played bat catcher. I caught an in field fly (only thing I caught in 2 games aside from what was being pitched). I also wore a ball to the inner thigh - I think I might try to match the color with some paint for a rec room - it is a real fancy purple green color!!! On the upside though we won both games! I spent all of Sunday and most of today trying to recupperate from Saturday. I estimate I did around 700 squats and lunges on Saturday! I FEEL THE BURN!!!! On Thursday I am going to have a me day and am going to town to get my hair done and to go for lunch with Jackie. Chris is going to stay home with the kidlets for the day (brave man). Anyway here are some more pics for everyones viewing pleasure!
