HALFWAY THERE!!!

I am 20 weeks pregnant today! I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone. It feels like only yesterday Dani was telling my mom that her mummy was going to have a baby ... in there (pointing to my tummy). I decided that after spending all night - literally - fleshing out the hides I was too far behind in my days to go to Whitehorse tomorrow. So instead I will do all the household stuff tonight and tomorrow and then get to bed early tomorrow and go early Friday morning.

Tanning My Hide!

Yesterday I was given two bull moose hides by a local woman and her husband. Last night I spoke to the lady who is teaching me how to bead native moccasins and I was telling her that I had received these two hides and haven't been able to find a tannery in Canada! So I told her I was going to try it myself - she told me I have my work really cut out for me! So last night I sat on the internet for about 3 hours trying to find a tannery somewhere close to here in Canada! I FOUND ONE!!!! In Edmonton of all places. That works out perfect cause we are going there in a couple months and we can bring the hide down with us (saves on greyhound fees). I don't feel so panicked now that I have found someone to do it. Last night I was starting to get a little uneasy about this whole thing - fear of the unknown I guess! I think I would much rather start with a deer hide - NOT an ALASKAN MOOSE!!!! The hide won't be ready till late spring but that suits me just fine cause it would have been late spring before it was finished here anyway. The guy in Whitehorse was going to charge me 350 dollars per moose - and he doesn't even do it himself he sends it to the states to be done so I am sure that would be in US dollars so I would have to pay more than that! The place in Edmonton charges $120/30 square feet. So when I talk to my dad today that is where I will get him to get all his hunting buddies to send their hides and then have them sent to me. The deal is that if they get their hides tanned and send them to me then I will make them a pair of moccasin slippers or a pair of gauntlet mittens.

Two more sleeps till I go to Whitehorse to wait for my hon to come home. I am going in on Thursday to meet for supper with my friend who is down from Old Crow. Then on Friday I have a doc appt, and I need to get the winter tires put on the truck and the kids were invited to a birthday party that night. Then Saturday and Sunday I may or may not go to Teslin to hang out with some friends for a couple of days or just stay in Whitehorse and hang out there - I haven't decided yet. Monday the hubbs will be home YAAAAAY! Monday afternoon I have an ultrasound and after that we are going to drive back here. WHEW what a weekend I have lined up! All I know is that on Sunday night the kids will be in bed and I will have my fat ass parked in front of a tv somewhere watching Desperate Housewives!

We have postponed our trip to the Domincan. I am a little poopy lipped about it but it will probably be better this way. So far we have decided to take the kids as far as West Edmonon Mall. From there we will see what happens - who's to say that we don't walk past a travel agent and see a seat sale for Hawaii..... hmmmmm. I doubt it - but it could happen!

I have two days left at the house before we leave for town and things are not getting done with me parked in front of the computer! The basement is almost finished and the upstairs is looking like its been ransacked by two toddlers! I can't win! I am off to the dungeon to finish it and then I will start on the upstairs! Wish me luck and if you don't hear from me by Tuesday call someone to come over and dig me out of the basement - chances are a box ate me alive!

Have a Great Weekend!

I feel...

Yesterday was definately not one of my best days. It was all I could do to drag my sorry ass from bed to the couch. I slept off and on through the (10 minutes here and there) while trying to get the kids not to totally destroy the house! At about three I finally decided to get out of my pj's and take the kids to the mail and the grocery store. As I was getting dressed I had a look in the mirror and thought to myself - Oh man this is bad!!! My hair was messy, my pants looked like I was waiting for a flood, and I had no makeup on at all. Dani came in and took my hand and said "mommy, yer bootiful" That was all I needed to hear! Its funny how a two year old can make you feel like the most gorgeous person in three words - even if you feel like crapola for the better part of the day! Today I feel much better after having a good nights sleep.

The kids are really missing their dad. Dani wants to sleep in his t-shirts all the time and on his side of the bed! Zach goes in our room looking for him all the time. DSani has been drawing pictures for him and everytime he calls she "shows" him the pictures. She has become a lot more verbal int eh last month. Its almost like having a conversation with a short adult! She is even opinionated (Who knows where she got that!) If I let her smell some candles and she doesn't like it she says "mom thats a yucky one, I don't like it" She is always looking out for Zach. Today she tried to help him pee in the potty. Took his diaper off and had him up on the stool at the potty. Its hard to get her to understand that he is too little to pee in the potty right now! She has been potty training her bear also. Apparently bear can't wipe his own bum either cause I got called in to do the wipe the other day. She makes me laugh! Zach is becoming more and more interested in the boy things. He LOVES cars, trucks, planes, and helicopters. We have a halicopter landing pad right across from our house so every time he hears it he is at the window yelling his version of the word helicopter! His favorite cars right now are a little green fire truck and a blue police truck - go figure! lol.
Chris will be home in 1 week and 2 days. I miss him like CRAZY! I have been able to finish a lot of things that I started around the house - the basement in particular is looking pretty good. Its still not finished but it is getting there. I can see over the piles of junk now and the floor has more open space now - not just pathways! I need to buy a couple more shelves for extra blankets and towels - there is just no room up here for that stuff. Its hard to get it finished in one day when I am chasing the monkeys around and trying to keep them out of the boxes. It is easier to work down there when they are in bed. It only leaves me with a few hours before I go to bed but anything is better than nothing. The other day Dani said to me "mommy lets go downstairs and clean, its messy down there!" I nearly fell over laughing! My next project is our bedroom. I want to rearrange it for winter and want to reorganize the closet so that we can fit all our clothes in there. Its easy for me - I don't have too much in the way of preggy clothes so my stuff won't take up a lot of room. Chris however has a ton of stuff on his side! He has all his work clothes as well as his everyday clothes packed into the closet! So downstairs I built him a little closet thing for his work stuff - now all I have to do is move it all downstairs! Tonight is pancake night for supper so I better go and get things cooking! Night all.

What did you teach your kids today?

Today my kids learned that when it gets cold out mommy will let you pull all the flowers out of the garden and out of the planter boxes. They also learned that when the leaves turn yellow they start to fall off the trees. And that their mother is more than willing to shake the crap out of the tree just to see the look of excitement on their faces when all the leaves fall down on top of them! Last night it got down to -10. All my flowers suffered and so this afternoon I put them out of their misery and pulled every last one of them. After telling dani all summer not to touch the flowers she was a little apprehensive about pulling them out with me. I might take the kids out to Simpson Lake tomorrow - its about an hour north of town. Apparently it snowed there yesterday. Friends of ours are going camping there tonight and invited the kids and I for the afternoon tomorrow. We will probably go I just want to get the lawn mowed tonight or tomorrow. If its going to snow I want to be ready for it. The basement is coming along slowly. I've got all four shelves put together and all Chris's tools and my candles are making their way to the shelves. The kids are in a routine now!!! Zach is in bed between 8 and 8:30 and Dani is in bed usually a half hour after Zach goes. Zach has also finally started sleeping through the night! Last night makes five nights in a row. This is awesome having them in a routine but now I find that I have nothing to do in the evening. Well not nothing but I am kind of wandering around going now what? So I started doing the box of puzzles that Chris bought me last year for christmas. Its a box of 10 puzzles with 500 pieces each. I am averaging 1 puzzle a night - I am quickly running out of puzzles! I leave for town on the 29th. I have a doc appt in the afternoon and then a friend of ours is having a b-day party for their daughter and the kids were invited. So we are going to spend the night there. I pick Chris up at the airport on the 2 so I think we will just hang out around town or Teslin till his flight gets in. I have another ultrasound on the 2nd and am really looking forward to it. All the pain of having to pee so bad is very worthwhile when I get to see our little munchkin. Anyway better get supper ready its getting to that time!

Missing My Hon

Chris has been gone for four days now and won't be back till October 2nd. Dani keeps asking me where daddy is and I keep on telling her he's in school. She keeps saying - ok, he'll be home soon right. She knows way too much for her two and a half years! The day I dropped hubbs off at the airport I went to wally world and bought a couple of those resin shelves for the basement. I bought one for his tools and one for my candles. I have my friend bringing out two more tomorrow cause all our stuff filled the other two and we have more to be putting on there! I managed to find a sitter for the babes for tomorrow night, so the party is a go! I am expecting between 10 and 20 people. I hope they all come cause I am making a shitload of food and I don't want to be eating leftovers for the next week and a half! Mind you then I wouldn't have to do the blank stare into the freezer trying to imagine something up for dinner! While Zach was down for a nap today Dani sat on the couch with her toy phone and had a twenty minute conversation with my mom! It was so cute! Gramma S_____ you gonna come over and play my cards with me? How you doin? Tonight I put her to bed and she wanted her babies so I gave her dolls to her and I hear her talking to them as I'm walking out the door - Hi babies, how ya doin? She makes me laugh! I got them new snowsuits in town the other day. They are a bit too big for them but I would rather them too big then the same as last year where I went around chasing Zach constantly pulling his pant legs down. I put them on the kids - Zach fell over and couldn't get back up so he just layed there doing the flounder till I went over and uprighted him. I am working on getting these kiddos into a daily routine. More a set bedtime than anything. I am trying to get Zach to sleep through the night - its been a trying four nights! I think he is teething so he hasn't been eating much and is probably waking up hungry cause as soon as he has a cup of milk he usually goes back to sleep. He was sleeping through the night before we moved so I know he can do it! Anyway speaking of a waking child - I'm being hollored for!

Happy Four Years!

Yesterday was mine and hubbs four year wedding anniversary. I can't believe four years has flown by so quickly. It seems like only yesterday that we were saying I do. Chris leaves on a course for work on Monday. He will be gone for the whole month of September. I look forward to being able to work at my leisure in the basement. I am hoping to get some shelves up for his tools and all my candles. I am having a candle party here on the 9th - hopefully I can find a sitter for the munchkins. All my christmas stuff got here last week so I can't wait for everyone to see it.

I went for an ultrasound on the 24. Everything looks good and the tech says that I am right on for my dates. I go back for my routine one on the 2nd of October - same day I go get Chris. Apparently the baby is a thumb sucker! My new nephew Logan John was born on August 29 at 5:09pm. He weighed in at 6lbs, 15 1/2 oz and is 20 inches long. My sister is doing good and everybody is down there loving on the baby for us!

Anyway time to make supper.
