How much would you trust them???

As you all know I have been teaching - if thats what you want to call it - the art class for the grade 7, 8, and 9 girls. A couple of weeks ago we made face masks from the material that you use to cast an arm or a leg. The masks turned out awesome! Yesterday the girls were painting their masks and came up with the brilliant idea that I needed to have one too. For those that know me you know that I don't do to well with stuff being put over my nose and mouth - especially hands! Funny thing how it doesn't bother me to wear an SCBA mask and to breath from a tank but as soon as I turn the air off it becomes a little more interesting! So after a little consideration I decided to let the girls cast my face. As I cadet I learned "don't ask somebody to do something that you yourself would not do". So I did it. I think I did pretty damn good for laying on my back with my face - except for my nostrils - completely covered in gauze and plaster for 20 minutes. I will post a picture of the mask once I bring it home. Does anybody know how to post video clips on their blog??? I would love to figure it out so that I can post a clip of the kids shaking it up!

Another day, Another dollar.

I give teachers ALOT of credit! After subbing at the school for four days this past week I am near ready to rip every last piece of my hair out of my head! Our trip in to Whitehorse was relatively uneventful. Dani only barfed once the whole way in! I got my hair cut short and highlighted with red and blonde. I like it. I don't have that just dragged my ass our of bed look anymore! We went to Watson Lake on Saturday cause I had to do a show for a lady that I met at the last show I did down there. It was an awesome party and I have another show booked down there for the third weekend in April. Chris was able to chat with his soon to be bosses and hinted to them about the house that we would like to have down there if we get a choice. I may not have to live in the nasty mold house after all! Keep your fingers crossed that they give us the house we want. Anyway better run I have the reading program tonight.

Preparing for another hectic week!

Now that this week is said and done I can jump right into next week! Sean (husbands coworker) came here Tuesday night and stayed until Friday morning - I did a pretty good job at being a "Housewife" if I do say so myself! Friday Chris and I took the kids into town for some groceries, a bite to eat and a swim at the awesome pool! After about 9 times in a row down the water slide with Dani I was about ready to show everybody what we ate at Boston Pizza! The slide seems to be very twisty with a little landing strip at the bottom - weight loss incentive - I reached the big metal gate grill thing at the end of the runway! Chris says he knew it was Dani and I coming down cause of the huge tidal wave effect as soon as we hit the runway! Today was the family cook off. We had 15 people show up - I am stuffed right full now! I am looking forward to this next week. I am subbing for the grade 1/2 class on mon, tues, wed and then on thurs. I am teaching the 7,8,9 art class. Friday is another trip to the city for eye appointments, chiropractor, truck (roof box) and hair appointment. I'm getting it cut and colored. Saturday we are going to Watson Lake for me to do a partylite show and for Chris to check out his new office and hopefully our new house. Zach has been slobbering and boogering all over the place these last couple of days. Poor kid sees me coming with a kleenex and just starts wailing! His poor little nose!

He came, He saw, He went

The guy that is moving into our house came to have a look at it today. So I spent all day yesterday trying to make sense of the dungeon (basement). I was up till 3:45 this morning cleaning the basement and then was up again at 8:30 making sure the upstairs was clean and presentable. I cleaned for probably 15 hours total in the last 2 days if not more - he was here for half an hour!!! Its all good now though cause the basement is done for when Chris's co-worker comes to stay with us next week. We are having company for din din tonight - the menu is roast beef, yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, green beans and whatever I can come up with for a dessert.

I Love Laser Pointers!!!

In my own warped world I think that a laser pointer is every parents dream toy - not for my children but, for me! Today and tomorrow I am watching my friends kids for her while she is at work and her husband is out of town on a course. The boys are 3 and 1, so right around the same age as my kids. I was in need of a good laugh this afternoon and remembered that I had one in the kitchen junk drawer. I have to admit that as a stay at home mom there is nothing more satisfying than getting your kids to chase the "dot"! This lasted for about an hour till they finally got tired enough to sit and watch a bit of Dora before the boys went home. I nearly pissed myself laughing at the four little monsters running around - the two oldest yelling DOT DOT DOT and the two youngest yelling DAAAA DAAAAA DAAAAA. What would you do? I'm looking forward to tomorrow's episode of "dot" races!

A is for...

What a weekend! This weekend was the town rendezvous festivities. I spent the better part of the weekend down at the rec center running the kids coloring, reading and craft station. On Friday night we all dressed up in old time rendezvous gear and headed out to the family dance. The kids LOVED IT!!! They ran around all crazy with the other kids that were there. Since then I have had many comments about how social my daughter is - I wonder where she gets it??? Saturday I spent the whole day in the rec with the kids and then Saturday night was the potluck dinner and adult dance. We went for the potluck but made our way home before the dance started. On Sunday I went back down to the rec and was able to participate in some of the events going on since there weren't to many kids at my station. The first event was the mixed log saw. One of the locals and I competed in it together - we placed second. We sawed a piece of the log off in 37 seconds - the first place team got it in 36 seconds! I think we would of had it if the saw didn't stick on one of the passes. The second event was the chainsaw chuck - I sucked! The last event was the mad trapper relay. We had to start out by laying down on a tarp then when they said go, you had to jump up and put on a snowshoe, run to a log and hammer in a nail, run to a wood sled, take off the snow shoe, run the sled around the snow pile and back to the place you took the snow shoe off, drink a cup of water, put your snow shoe back on, run back to the beginning and sing happy birthday to Elvis (maybe Tagish Elvis hey Tammy!)I finished second in that with 1 minute and 1 second, the girl that got first did it in 53 seconds. So for dressing up I got this really pretty poncho and Chris got an awesome sweater. For the log sawing I won a Yukon electric travel coffee cup.

So Chris and I got our unofficial notice about getting moved to Watson Lake
(Home to North America's Largest Collection of Stolen Property - The Sign Post Forest) between April and July. I am looking forward to going but there is so much to get done here before we go anywhere. Its one thing for the movers to come and pack all our shit up but it is completely another when they have to come in and clean up all your shit as they go! Not that I'm a slob or anything its just that I have stuff out that I don't have a home for so it looks like a huge mess (in the basement)- anyway all I have to do really is get all the stuff I don't want and get it in a pile for a garage sale in april or may. I hope we move in April or early May or in the last part of July. We have to much going on to not move then. My sister is getting married the last weekend in May and Chris's sister is graduating around the same time so we are making the 33 hour drive home for them thankfully we don't have to make two trips - kill two birds with one stone. Then BJ and her hubbs are coming up here the first week of July - who wants to move when you have company! Its not like I really have any say in the matter but I do have wishful thinking - ultimately it will be up to Chris's supervisors.

Zach and Dani were in the tub last night - I love those foam letters and numbers!
